From a social software perspective, the site makes extensive use of Flickr, pulling in photographs and descriptions that appear on the site. Visitors are also encouraged to share their own photos. Ideum worked closely with KQED staff to integrate various media elements and built a custom content management system allowing KQED staff to easily add and edit materials.
