Web 2.0
Basically, I am creating this article to inform all of the uninformed - there are many ways to effectively market yourself, and your businesses for very little to no cost whatsoever. There's a marketing and advertising tactic known as Web 2.0 in which is a lucrative alternative to Google Adwords, if you do not have the kind of money to throw into a PPC campaign.
Effective marketing strategies such as search engine optimization can be done for a very low cost. Essentially, the only thing you need to have is a hosted domain name (which is like /month with GoDaddy), time, and a skillset. The skillset doesn't necessarily require you to be a webmaster - you just have to know some little tricks of the trade.
There are a few things you can do to optimize your search rankings within popular search engines. Like I said before, you should have your own web site. If you are creating a simple lead capture page, you can have someone create this for you for roughly 0 to 0, and then just take massive action to make google like your website. Things such as posting links on permanent web sites that direct to your landing page. Uploading videos on video hosting sites is a great way to do this, in fact... I shouldn't even be sharing this with you, but trafficgeyser.com is extremely potent in doing this for you. If you want to get a lot of backlinks to your website on a dime's notice, subscribe to trafficgeyser and use it to upload massive quantities of videos at one time. This is essentially a great way to maximize your web site's popularity on search engines as well as basic text content and anchor linking.
Anchor linking is the use of internal links on your website using appropriate keywords. Every time google's spiders crawl your site, they will access links you have. The more links you have on any given page of your website that direct back to your main landing page, the faster and higher your page rank will be. Use this technique with caution, as doing this for the sole purpose of spamming will essentially get you "sandboxed" by google, aka: google jail. If you have relevant content with links, you'll be ok - but creating massive amounts of links just to have crawlers optimize your site overnight will result in a ban.
Other great ways to incorporate FREE marketing techniques into your campaigns is to use social media sites like Facebook, Myspace, Squidoo, Twitter, Blogs, etc.
These sites are permanent sites, and the more related content you have using keywords that link to your website, the higher both your articles will rank, as well as your main website.
Craigslist is actually a great way to advertise for free, if you have the time to do it. Setting up multiple different accounts with craigslist is easy, however verifying all the different phone numbers is essentially the tricky part. You can publish 3 free advertisements for free every 7 days with craigslist per account. These advertisements have to vary in content by at least 20%. So, if you have 20 different accounts, using 20 verified phone numbers, you can essentially submit 60 new advertisements for your business or product every 7 days, for FREE. The only problem with this is like I said before, it takes a lot of time; however there are services you can use to automate your craigslist listings for you.
Myspace and Facebook are great. Facebook especially, as it's traffic is now ranked higher on Alexa search results, and there are more features to use on Facebook to advertise your service. Try to avoid joining groups and spamming them - this will get your account deleted by Facebook admin in a HEARTBEAT. Create your own groups and be adding friends and group invites on a daily basis. Search for your target audience and always be updating your profile and videos. Make sure you take advantage of Facebook's marketplace.
Myspace is not as advertiser-friendly as Facebook is, however there is a very lovely software called Friend Blaster Pro which I think is about ? What this software does is automates friend invites, message sending, and comment posting to anyone and everyone. Search for your niche audience, like in my case, I would go to a profile related to my business opportunity, auto-request all of it's friends, and then send them a squeezing message that will get them to look at my myspace page. They like you page enough, and you have enough information about yourself with a link to your opportunity provided, and they will click on it. Congratulations!
There is actually an incredible way to add thousands of Twitter followers to your website if you do it right. There's a free software program which you can get right here that is almost guaranteed to get you insane amounts of followers with little action required (obviously some).
Things liek Squidoo and Blogger are great hub sites for you to link your social bookmarking sites to. The more links your hub sites have, the higher up they'll rank in search results when crawlers crawl. Obviously, you'd want your hub sites to have massive amounts of links using keywords linking to your main website, so that both your main website and your hubs are listed high.
Basically, everything that I showed you can essentially be done for a very low cost. Obviously this requires some time and effort, but if you're gung-ho about ranking high in organic search results, or you just don't have 00 to throw at an Adwords campaign, this is by far your best bet.
