Typetester screen font explorer

by Ted Koterwas last modified 2007-09-16 10:11

Typetester enables you to explore and compare the look and feel of multiple fonts in real time, with control over css font properties.

Typetester is an interactive web-based tool for web designers to explore the look and feel of fonts for the screen. The tool allows you to input sample text (the default is the Lorem ipsum paragraph), and displays the text in a three column matrix, enabling you to compare fonts and effects side-by side. At the head of each column is a settings panel for choosing the typeface and setting the css properties for size, leading, tracking, alignment, word space, decoration, color, and background. Settings are applied immediately, providing a very smooth and responsive experience. The rows of the matrix are the type styles: Regular, Bold, Italic, and so on.

The Resources tab on the website presents links to a number of informative books and websites about typography and design.
