The Machine is Using Us
A well-produced short video that gives a quick history of the evolution of content and form from the early web to web2.0
The Machine is Using Us by Cultural Anthropologist Michael Wesch gives a thought-provoking history of the evolution of content and form from the early Web to Web2.0. It asks us to think about the implications of the separation of content and form that gives people the ability to "teach the machine" new ideas through contributing, semantically categorizing, and remixing content. This is an excellent introduction for someone who hasn't really thought about Web2.0 beyond the hype. It might also be useful for bringing a client or an institutional stakeholder into the loop before discussing web design ideas that use Web2.0 services or methodologies.
