The site contains what seems a rather good tutorial for novices. Other parts of the site contain much more advanced resources on PHP coding.

The very basics of PHP in a short, simple tutorial. The tutorial only deals with dynamic web page creation with PHP, though PHP is not only capable of creating web pages. See the section titled What can PHP do for more in-depth information.  If you are more advanced in PHP, and don't know the site, its worth poking around.
