“Web Designs for Interactive Learning” is a source of information and a forum for educators who are designing, developing, and evaluating interactive websites. Sponsored by the Informal Science Education program at the National Science Foundation, the site is maintained by the Cornell Lab of Ornithology (CLO) and the Exploratorium, and had its birth at an invitational conference held at the CLO in Ithaca, New York, from June 15-18, 2005.

The goal of the conference was to identify and publicize "best practices" for designing interactive educational websites that are instructive but also compelling, engaging, and fun to visit. In attendance were 54 diverse individuals including website producers, designers, developers, and evaluators.

The goal of this site is to become a well-visited resource for existing and future developers of interactive websites and a forum for ongoing discussion of web development issues.
